Services for Lawrence D. Stanford, 73, of 3420 61st St. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sanders Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John H. Johns, pastor of South Park Baptist Church, and the Rev. Terry Wayne Jones, pastor of Slide Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

He died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Lubbock County, he grew up in the Slide community. He was a farmer until moving to Lubbock in 1963. He married Irene Faire in Clovis, N.M., Nov. 20, 1932. He served on the Board of Directors of Barton Gin Inc. He was a member of the Slide Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack of Lubbock;' two, daughters, Barbara Brewer of Denver City and Kay Richardson of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials to the Texas Boys Ranch or the American Cancer Society.

He was married to Wanda Irene Faire (daughter of Robert J. Faire and Ethel Landers) on 20 Nov 1932 in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico. Wanda Irene Faire was born on 4 Jul 1914 in Monett, Missouri. She died on 26 Dec 1996 in Lubbock County, Texas. ⁽⁸⁴⁾ Lawrence Delwin Stanford and Wanda Irene Faire had the following children:
