Funeral Services Held Sunday for Mrs. Viola Vaughn
Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Vaughn, age 85, of Thornton were Sunday, February
22, at 1 p.m. in the Kibler Chapel. Mrs. Vaughn passed away on Friday, February
20, in the South Limestone Hospital after being in ill health for several years.
Mrs. Vaughn was born on August 27, 1895 in San Saba, Texas, the daughter of Lillie
Mealy Cassels and Jim Cassels. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick
H. Vaughn. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by one son, William P. Rutledge of Bellville; two daughters,
Velma Brockman of Hempstead and Bonnie Thompson of Thornton; one sister, Thelma
Florio of Humble; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.
Rev. George Courtney officiated at the funeral services. Mrs. Deree McGilvray,
organist, played "Old Rugged Cross", "Church in the Wildwood",
and "In the Garden" as the special music.
Graveside services were held at the Dennard Cemetery in Dennard, Arkansas, on
Monday, February 23, at 2 p.m.
