He appeared on the census in 1840 in District #16, Maury County, Tennessee. ⁽²⁰⁴⁾ He appeared on the census on 27 Sep 1850 in District #8, Maury County, Tennessee.⁽²⁰⁵⁾ He appeared on the census on 17 Aug 1860 in Clarksville, Red River County, Texas. ⁽²⁰⁶⁾ He bought patent land on 28 Sep 1864 in Red River County, Texas. ⁽²⁰⁷⁾ He died before 1870.

He was married to Louisa Bailey (daughter of Richard Bailey and Catherine Grimes) on 29 Jun 1839 in Maury County, Tennessee. Louisa Bailey was born in 1818 in Tennessee. She appeared on the census in 1870 in Clarksville, Red River County, Texas. ⁽²⁰⁸⁾ Abram Looney Acuff and Louisa Bailey had the following children:
