I have the documented proof of my lineage from the present going back to William
Acuff (1818-1861)., also the lineage beginning with Isaac Acuff (ca1785) back
to Timothy (1735). They were examined and approved by S.A.R. However, I have
not located the document connecting Isaac and William Acuff as yet. I did receive
a letter from a Mr. Monte Clark of Maury Co. years ago who did county research
at that time. He conveyed to me that there was strong circumstantial evidence
that Isaac and William Acuff were indeed father and son, since both lived in
the same area and that Isaac had a son of an age to be William. Also, Abraham
named a son Isaac. Abraham and William Acuff moved to Red River
Co. Texas ca 1856).
"Ancestral Sketches" by Leroy Reeves is the source for Timothy and
family. David
Looney's land grant is the source for Isaac, even though David specified in his
will an Isaac Acuff Looney. I believe these two names are both one and the same
person., examining the court and county records. The census of 1840, and 1850
supports Abraham and William Acuff. The 1860 census of Red River Co. Texas confirms
both. Richards Civil War Pension
Application confirms his birthdate and place and his war records state war related
events and dates. Richards marriage certificate and the 1900 census proves his
family.
There may be something I overlooked or erred in the dates. From what I have,
I believe this to be correct.
Janet: You say you have resources in England? Would the archival holdings be
in London perhaps? I am also interested in the locations for records in Scotland,
Ireland, and Wales.
Merry Christmas to all and Happy Holidays.
