Ellen Nordberg’s articles and essays have appeared on National Public Radio and in The Chicago Tribune, LA Sports + Fitness, Adventure Cyclist, Windy City Sports, Rocky Mountain Sports, the literary magazines River Oak Review, Moon Journal, Kaleidoscope, and the anthologies Earth Beneath, Sky Beyond, Take Two – They’re Small, Freedom’s Just Another Word, Feathers, Fins, and Fur and Bicycle Love.  She has given readings of her work at Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Chicago’s Women and Children First. 

Prior to her freelance writing career, Ellen spent nearly eight years on the marketing side of magazine publishing at Ziff-Davis. In addition to her freelance work, she has written two movie scripts and a novel. Ellen studied writing through workshops at the University of Chicago, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and the Iowa Writers Workshop with authors such as Hope Edelman, David Ulin, Charles Harper Webb, and Pam Houston.  She holds a B.A. in English from Cornell University.

An AFAA certified fitness instructor, Ellen teaches aerobics in Southern California. She rock climbs, cycles, kayaks, and is a PADI certified scuba diver.  She has taught women’s cycling clinics for REI.
