I must say that initially I was very impressed with the quality of your fine squid page and shooting gallery until one of my coworkers told me that every time I shot a squid in your gallery, a squid died in real life. I was traumatized by this bit of information and I don't think I will be able to visit your squid page again until I have solid evidence refuting my friend's claim.
ANSWER:
Well, you did realize that the market for Calimari has to be filled *somehow*. Your squid hunting helps bolster our seafood economy, increase cyberrevenues and promote the basic principles of pseudoviolence that makes this country GREAT.Hope this helps.

I too love squid. In addtion to appreciating them while scuba diving, I enjoy their recipes. I was wondering if you knew of anywhere to get squid ink for making pasta. I have searched everywhere. I realize you can extract it from fresh squid, but I was hoping that it could be found in a bottled state. Thank you very much
ANSWER:
I'm fairly sure you can find squid ink at some of the more obscure Italian restaurant supply companies. They sell it to be used in squid-ink pasta.

[T]hanks for the neat page! It's nice to know that other people think squid are fascinating (and not just because of the experimental possibilities of the squid axon).

We have a number of 3-5# squid to turn into something good to eat. How in the world do you clean them? They were caught by a whiting dragger of the coast of Washington. We are oyster farmers ,here on the coast of Washington State and we are not familiar with this critter.
Please help if you can.
ANSWER:
I'd ask them to take showers and give them little bars of dial or coast. After, dress them up in something nice. You don't want them embarassing you at the dinner table. They are fine critters but aren't the best at making dinner conversation.
(Sorry, I've never eaten calimari & wouldn't know where to start.)

I loved your game. Did you know squids are the cousin of octopus? I'm a kid I'm 9 and I love Biology my name is Nathan.
ANSWER:
Dear Nathan,Thank you for your letter. Yes, I did know that both squids and octopi are members of the "cephalopod" family. The name means head-feet and if you look at squids and octopi you'll notice that their feet stick out of their heads! Other members of this family include the cuttlefish. There are many wonderful books about sea life that you can find in your public library. I hope you will keep reading and learning.

Sorry to bother you. I was interested in finding out the health properties of squid. Is Squid a low fat meat? Is squid high in cholesterol? Any other good things about it? If you have time, please let me know...I am hooked on squid!
ANSWER:
I suppose if you feed your pet squid a low-fat diet, he'll be a low-fat pet. I'm not a squid eater.

Was trying to find a good photo of a squid for my grandson and was rally disappointed with your "squid gallery." There are no full shots. Your drawing at the top was the best representation, but a full photo would have been better to show him.
ANSWER:
Sorry I disappointed. Please let me know if you come across a more photogenic squid.

Hi! I'm a tremendous fan of squid. They're third on my list of spiffy animals, following slugs and cuttlefish. (Cuttlefish are particularly marvelous, and always inspire a sense of wonder...)
