Letters Page Guidelines

Ask a question, express your opinion, or get something off your chest. Maybe you know the answer to another writer's question. Here are some things to remember:

Send mail for the Letters Page to mie.letters.page@mindspring.com

All letters received at this address are considered Letters Page submissions. By sending mail to this address you automatically give MIE permission to edit and publish your letter on the MIE Letters Page. For other means of contacting the Methadone Information Exchange see the MIE Home Page.

The SUBJECT line:

  1. When writing a reply, include the reference number of the letter being replied to on the SUBJECT line. Replies cannot be linked back to the original letter unless this reference number is provided.

Example: SUBJECT: RE: #317, Take Homes

The recommended SUBJECT line text and reference number to use with replies is available to copy and paste at the bottom of each letter.
  2. When writing a new letter (not a reply), use 3-4 words in the SUBJECT line to describe the topic of your letter. Be specific and brief.

Please don't leave the subject line blank!

Letters will be screened and may be edited before being posted.

Your letter will be posted as soon as possible (usually within 1 to 7 days), however, the Methadone Information Exchange reserves the right to edit or withold letters at our discretion.

To post a letter anonymously:

  1. Add a note at the beginning or end of your letter requesting anonymity. In the note you may include an alternate name or identifier (initials, a nickname) to be used in place of your e-mail address and signature, otherwise you will be identified as "Anonymous".
  2. Sign your letter "Anonymous" and your name and e-mail address will be witheld.

Note: Letters without these indicators will be treated as normal: with the subject, sender's e-mail address, and date sent in the letter's header, and any signatures as written.

Usage Policy

Material on the Methadone Information Exchange Letters Pages may not be copied and reproduced for mass distribution in any medium without permission from the letter writer or author. If the desired material is written anonymously, requests for its use can be made through the Methadone Information Exchange, which will attempt to contact the writer.
