Paul Fancher

I (Paul Fancher) worked for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph (Subsequently BellSouth) for 35 years and was transferred to headquarters A.T.&T. in 1965. While living in New Jersey, I became interested in the Fancher genealogy as the result of questions of the New Jersey Fanchers. I began to delve into the family and subsequently became deeply interested. As a hobby I have collected many, many records from a wide variety of sources. Now in retirement, I have continued my hobby and have resorted to the Internet and E-Mail to further my efforts.

Using some genealogical notation I am Paul Buford-8 Fancher (Roy S.-7, Houston A.-6, Levi L.-5, Johnson-4, David-3, Benjamin-2, Richard-1) which indicates my Father Roy S. Fancher was in the seventh generation and was descended from Richard Fancher of the first generation in America.

I was born in Nashville, Tennessee, June 15, 1930 and moved at less than 1 year of age with my parents to Chattanooga where I graduated from high school in 1948. I married March 15, 1953 in Chattanooga to Frances Marie Jenkins, born October 11, 1934, daughter of Cecil Thomas Jenkins and Daisy Margaret Jernigan. Children:

1. Paul Buford, Jr., born November 23, 1953, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

2. Susan Lynn, born October 26, 1955, Knoxville, Tennessee.

3. Michael Ray, born November 27, 1956, Knoxville, Tennessee.

4. Karen Anne, born September 25, 1959, Orlando, Florida.

5. Daniel Lee, born June 7, 1963, Atlanta, Georgia.
