Bahama Mission
November and December 2000

We are thankful that the 2000 Hurricane Season has given us additional time to continue recovery efforts from the past. Every where we go, doors are open and gratitude is expressed for the water, food and medical supplies that were given. The giving of Bibles and Bible Study materials along with World Bible School lessons through the schools is almost at an end. We would have finished if the students had come back to class for the last week after exams. We will catch the last schools when activities resume in January. We have saturated Abaco, Eleuthera, Cat Island, Long Island, San Salvador, and given many WBS lessons for the cities of Freeport and Nassau. Pray with us for a great harvest of students and opportunities to bring men and women to the Christ.

Lincoln Young will soon be in his new quarters built by the brethren from Nashville and Memphis. The paint was donated by the Church in Abaco, and brethren in Ft. Myers gave the money for furnishings. This two room and bath area is handicap friendly and will allow Lincoln to use his electric wheel chair to get out in the town area and visit more with the people of the community. They have a large "end of year" parade in Rock Sound this month and the Church will use this opportunity to distribute Bibles, Tracts, and WBS lessons to the large crowds who come to watch. The brethren from Tennessee are also getting his electric wheel chair operational.

Todd and Jamie Brunner are really doing great in Marsh Harbour and have started a new congregation out at Snake Cay (15 miles away). They meet on drift wood pews on the beach. They had nine last week on Sunday afternoon. Todd also studied with a young man and baptized him in the sea in Marsh Harbour. He has started a class for men on Saturday mornings, and they have a midweek Bible study in Snake Cay on Thursdays, and plan to restart the Ladies Bible Class after the first of the year on Thursday evenings. They also work with teenagers with a sandlot volleyball game and devotional once a week. Dinah and I have a wedding to help with and will be preaching two Sundays in Marsh Harbour during the holidays. Todd and Jamie will be away. Frank and Bea Sarver will arrive January 2nd for their ninth year. They will spend 10 weeks in Marsh Harbour teaching and encouraging. We are all excited about their coming.

Other helpers in the past few weeks include: Jack and Donna Steward who have a condo in Treasure Cay (20 Miles north of Marsh Harbour). They teach, encourage and will be using their plane to help follow-up on WBS students in the various Islands. They are also looking into starting a congregation on the north end of the Island. They have already found one former member of the Church.

Danny and Melanie Guinn from Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers vacationed in the Bahamas a week or so ago. Maybe I should say, they tried to. We met them at Services in Eleuthera and talked them into using their plane and muscles to help deliver Bibles in Cat Island. Two days later we got them to fly up to Abaco and carry a load of paint and Bibles to Eleuthera. They will be back in February and June to help with programs and Vacation Bible Schools.

Steve and Victoria Fraasa( Fraasa Films Inc.) spent six days taking 7 hours of film of the work to donate a short Documentary of Bahama Mission.. We will use it to keep you better informed of what is happening and to encourage others to help. This donated film would have cost $15,000 plus expenses to produce. We are thankful for all of the sacrifice and hard work as they use their talents for the Cause of Christ in the Islands. They are members at West Broward in Ft. Lauderdale.

The Freeport congregation with the support of all congregations in the Bahamas is trying to complete the building in San Salvador. They had 7 in attendance last Sunday and had hoped to complete the work, but the supplies did not arrive on the mail boat.

Sympathy is expressed to Bill Miller (Preacher at Highbury Park) in the death of his mother in Nassau, and to Dick Parker( Long time missionary to the Bahamas)in the passing of his sister in California.

We welcome a new supporting congregation this month. The Bedford Church of Christ in Shelbyville , Tennessee has joined with all of us . We are most thankful.

We are trying to slow our efforts down until we can raise some additional funds, due to the large increase in fuel prices. We can't preach if we can't get there!

Dinah has really worked in the distribution of Bibles in the schools, keeping the picture bulletin boards updated and even giving me short naps by flying the plane when the old man gets exhausted.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Checks for the work can be made to:
