Bahama Hurricane Update #8
September 25, 2004

This may be our last update for a while. We will do what we can to get word out after Jeanne strikes. The storm is increasing in size and strength and is expected to go to a Cat. 4( 155 mph) before it hits Florida. The hurricane field is enlarging. The pressure is dropping and it is just a few miles from Abaco as I write. The storm surge doubles with this kind of storm.

Brethren in Abaco and Eleuthera have prepared as much as they can. The Freeport brethren sent men to Miami to buy food and water, and they were able to get about 80% of what they needed, with the funds they had.. They got supplies for 60 families. We pray that the 40 foot container will get to them soon after Jeanne. More than 600 homes were destroyed in Freeport with Francis. We expect many damaged homes to go after Jeanne.

The situation in Haiti is horrible. Brother Gueston Piceus the preacher in Gonaives is living on his roof as many are. To date we know just the 109 brethren who died there.

Phones were working yesterday in Cayman for the first time. The phone sounded like it was ringing at the Bothwell home, but still no answer.

Thank you so much for the help you have sent. Checks can be made to Bahama Mission Church of Christ, and sent:
