Programs of Song by Gary Cox

Gary Cox has sung professionally in the Dallas Opera Chorus and in his own madrigal group at the Colorado Renaissance Festival, in churches, schools, theatres, and clubs in Dallas and Denver. Now he sings for travellers, and with a difference, for he enriches his songs with lively tidbits of info about the composers, the poetic texts, the milieux of their creation and past performance. Commentary can be in English, Russian, German, or (soon) Slovak.

Here are some of the programs he is prepared to offer (more will be ready soon):

  • A program of Russian song. Rakhmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Musorgsky, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, folksongs, recent and contemporary ballads, more.

  • Austrian Composers/German Poets: Beethoven, Schubert, Goethe, Schiller, others.

  • American Musical Theatre: Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Noel Coward, others.

  • Central European Song: Dvorák, Smetana, Janácek, Bartok, Schneider-Trnavský, others.

  • Renaissance Song in Western and Central Europe.
