Poetry in Decatur

The one and only Dwight Humphries, poet especial, passed away on October 13, 2001.
He is irreplaceable, but a new group in his honor and with new energies would
thrill him no matter where he is.

Of "Podness"*

What are Pods all about?
They are about participation and the continuation of an organization that works to mutually benefit all writer/members in their chosen genre, and in the overall business of the writing life. Pods are about support. Connection. Communication.
 *   Enjoyment of a shared interest... fellowship.
 *   Watching yourself and the other pod members grow... in skill and professionalism.
 *   Help in literary discernment, rediscovering excellence and why it is considered excellent.
 *   Opportunities to mentor and be mentored.
 *   Having a chance to be published in GW News/Mag and receiving important, truthful and accurate information in its pages and from your fellow writer-members.

*      *      *

*Often people ask why we call our satellite groups "Pods."  Whale families live in "pods" and as their exemplary behavior is legendary, that is reason enough to use the term for our namesake. The Pod signature image ought to be a whale or a family group of whales. We're seeking just the right picture, one that translates to a clear background image. Please contact us at: Pods@georgiawriters.org if you have something that will fit.
