At no time before in history has an act of blatant terrorism been so devastating or successful as was today's horrific attack on worldwide freedom and democracy. High tech barbarism remains barbaric regardless of the excuse of religious zeal. Fanaticism that takes innocent lives is still an act of murder, about which there is nothing holy. Now more than ever our dreams of peace must be accompanied by definitive acts to preserve and maintain that peace.
Georgia Writers Association offers prayers of strength not only to today's victims and their families, but to all who may now be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice in preempting further demonic acts. We urge our members and friends to do what little we can do. Contact the Red Cross and give blood or donate.
"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been murderers and tyrants, and for a time they can seem invincible. But in the end they always fail. Think of it, always."
-- Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948)
