Geri Tarans flash poetry submission, The Sated Widow or Preying Mantis,was accepted for publication in the Spring 2002 issue of flashquake (an e-zine) as the second place selection in the poetry category. She will receive a CD copy of the issue. You can find her poem in this e-publication after March 1 at: http://www.flashquake.org.
Gelia Dolcimascolo, Pod leader of The Writers Circle at Georgia Perimeter Colleges Dunwoody Campus, published five poems in each of two separate anthologies: The Art of Musica Collection of Writings, Volume 1 (Piano Press) and The Awakenings Review, Volume 1 No. 2 (The Awakenings Project and the University of Chicago Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation). She won a first place award (a trophy!) in The Art of Music for One Sister and a Piano. Also, her poem Timely Assistance has been published in The Chronicle, a magazine for Georgia Perimeter College staff and community. Additionally, on February 12 at 10:30 she presented a poetry workshop at the Marcus Jewish Community Center in Atlanta.
Many thanks to five of our illustrious members (who must remain nameless according to the contest rules) for serving as judges in the Gwinnett County School System "Reflections" competition.
Members' interest in and dedication to our student writers is an important part of Georgia Writers Association's Writing in the Schools (WitS) program.
