CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: flashquake

flashquake (http://www.flashquake.org) is a quarterly online literary journal devoted to flash literature: flash fiction, flash memoir, flash plays and short poetry. In short, a literary venue for all things flash. Send us work that will leave our readers thinking. We want fresh ideas, compelling situations, memorable characters - complete stories - in as few words as possible.

Guidelines: See www.flashquake.org/guidelines.html for submission guidelines. We accept both electronic and hard copy submissions. Simultaneous submissions accepted. Our reading periods are December 1 - February 10 (Spring), March 1 - May 10 (Summer), June 1 - August 10 (Fall), and September 1 - November 10 (Winter).

Payment: Fiction, nonfiction, plays, poetry: $5-25 (pays on acceptance); honorable mentions pay in CD copy (pays on publication); Artwork: Cover art pays $50, all other artwork pays in CD copy (pays on publication). Occasional unannounced feature: Editor's Picks, chosen from among the open submissions not selected for publication in a regular category pays $5-15 (pays on acceptance). flashquake also sponsors contests from time to time. All authors selected for publication receive CD copy of the site.

...is open to submissions by writers. They do not pay but it can be an excellent opportunity for you to submit a heartfelt first person story.

Highly recommended that you read a copy of the magazine in order to get a sense of style and subject matter. Written queries are not needed.
