----------child: Pate, Marcelline (~1824 - 1904)Marriage Note
The date and place of the marriage are "educated guesses".
The conclusion that the Ann Bisset who married John Cogill was the child of John George Bisset is tentative. Her association with the Cole Harbour Bissetts is based on the fact that there were a John Cogill and wife Ann living in Cole Harbour in the 1820s and 1830s near the Bissetts, whereas there are no other known Bissett families in Nova Scotia at that that time. Assuming that association, her 1805 marriage virtually assures that she is the child of John George Bisset, since all of his brothers were too young and his father's children are all accounted for.spouse: Cogill, John (r1778 - 1841)

A division of the Cole Harbour land holdings of Jean George Bissett was made among his heirs: "whereas the late George Bisset of Cole Harbour having at his death let a lot of undivided land among his heirs and being desirous to put an end to all disputes concerning the sharing thereof have unanimously and mutually agreed to divide said land in the following manner . . .".
(James) Frederick received one share, (John) George two shares, Louisa Harris one share. Benjamin and Samuel jointly received the remainder of the land as their shares, being required to grant an easement to each of Frederick and George to be able to get their teams to the water's edge. The deed was witnessed by Thomas Conrod.
It should be noted that neither Joseph Frederick nor George Frederick received any share, although both were certainly living.Christening - [date: 07 FEB 1762] [place: Saint John's Anglican, Lunenburg, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada]

She and her children accompanied her husband on his last voyage on his barque Laura. Off the coast of South America, Capt. Roache and the first mate died of yellow fever during a period when the ship had become becalmed. Some members of the crew, including the second mate, then mutinied. Using her husband's firearms, Agnes and the cook quelled the mutiny. When the calm broke, Agnes then took charge of the navigation and returned the ship safely to New York.

In his "Louisa's World", which is an extract from an 1814 diary of a woman living in Dartmouth, Dale McClare identifies a Mrs. David Frost as the former Miss Sarah Harper, daughter of George Harper and Catharine Bissett. "Religious Marriages in Halifax" shows that the Frosts were married on 15 Jan 1811 at Saint Paul's and that Sarah had not been previously married. This date essentially narrows the possibilities from among the known Bissetts of her mother's identity to the eldest child of Jean George Bisset, Anna Catharine born in 1756, and Louisa Catharine born in 1766. But Louisa Catharine is identified in the 1816 family estate settlement as Mrs. Harris.spouse: Harper, George (*1754 - )Christening - [date: 12 DEC 1756] [place: Saint John's Anglican, Lunenburg, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada]

The partially unreadable 1861 census entry for a Charles Bissett is likely associated with this Charles. The record shows a total of two males and three females, with one of the females being 15-20 and another 20-30. The other entries are not readable. It can be speculated that the members of the household may have been Charles, his wife Elizabeth, their newly married daughter and son-in-law Agnes and Joseph Roach, and their grandaughter, Matilda Green.

this Elizabeth is placed as the daughter of these parents primarily because of the lack of a better alternative. The reference to her as "daughter of a wealthy merchant of Halifax" almost surely identifies her as one of the Nova Scotia Bissetts. Yet, there is no other record on such an Elizabeth and the date of her marriage narrows her possible parents to a few - all of whom are highly unlikely except for this pair, who themselves are somewhat speculative. Her marriage date also makes it attractive to assume that she was a sibling of the James Bisset married in 1814, especially since there are no other Bissett marriages in this period.spouse: Walsh, William Cole Hamilton (*1787 - )Birth Note
