My father is the small lad at my Grandfather's knee. Every one in the photograph has passed away. The last one to do so was my Aunt Amelia, the young girl to my father's right, who died in May 1999.
The title for this site has become somewhat of a misnomer since it includes many families from Capri Leone, Sant'Agata, and Frazanno'. The project was originally intended only to research my own direct ancestry. In this regard, I had initially thought that my Sicilian ancestry was located only in Mirto. Subsequent research, however, proved that the family had originally settled in Capri Leone in the 1680s and spread out from there to the neighboring towns. Furthermore, as the effort progressed, I decided to track other lines of the descendants of my earliest ancestors and to extend it to the unrelated (to me) ancestry of some of my second cousins.
The data in this site for the years 1820 through 1910 were obtained mostly from the civil records of the Sicilian towns contained in Family History Library microfilms. It also includes, however, the results of my extensive research in the records at San Costantino Church in Capri Leone for the period prior to 1820.
The data has been filtered to remove all personal references to those born after 1926, unless they are known to be dead.
This is a photograph of my Grandparents and most of their children. It was taken in about 1912, probably in Cold Spring NY.
The genealogy information at this site has entries for 2549 individuals with 425 distinct surnames.
