The Zlatne Uste Golden Festival
Two nights of Balkan music, dance & border-crossing celebration
The Golden Festival is New York's largest Balkan music event, with multiple stages, Balkan and Middle Eastern refreshments, Balkan arts vendors, as well as beautiful Balkan textiles on display. From international stars to local musicians, modern Balkan stylists to folk traditionalists, over 40 bands provide hours of ecstatic listening, dancing and partying.

We send out about 2 postcard mailings each year to addresses in the greater New York metropolitan area, and a yearly mailing east of the Mississippi.
The festival is a yearly celebration of Balkan folk music and the profits from the festival are donated to relief organizations in the Balkans. This event is sponsored by Zlatne Uste.
Directions to Good Shepherd School

The school is located near 207th St. in the Inwood neighborhood of Upper Manhattan, about 5 minutes by car north of the GW Bridge.
By subway: A-train to 207th St. (you will exit on Broadway), or #1 train to 207th St. and when you exit go West to Broadway. Take Broadway north to Isham. Go L (West) 1.5 short blocks to school entrance.
Northbound Henry Hudson P'kwy (9A) (from downtown Manhattan or GW Bridge): take the Dyckman St. exit . Turn L at B'way (2nd light). Five blocks to Isham (after 207th). L on Isham 1.5 blocks to school entrance..
Southbound Henry Hudson P'kwy (9A): take the Dyckman St. exit and L at the end of the ramp. Turn L at Seaman (2nd light). Go R on Isham 1/2 block to school entrance.
From Fordham Rd/207th St Bridge: Take 207th to Broadway. R on Broadway one block to Isham. Turn L and go 1.5 blocks to the school entrance.

to work during the event the evenings on Friday and Saturday
SERVERS: including some during-festival food prep and expediting

HOST STAFF, gracious, patient and entertaining people to manage queues

DEDICATED DISHWASHERS: THIS IS ACTUALLY A PAID POSITION!!!!!! Dishwashers/cleaner-uppers needed for shifts DURING and AFTER the parties. If you can stand to come home with a few bucks in your pocket, and don’t mind a little water and several hours of behind-the-scenes work, please contact us for details.

FOOD PREP (PRE-EVENT Friday or Saturday): This is an old Golden Fest tradition, and all are invited to participate. THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION, while you do not get free admission to the parties, you are invited to share our supper before (and you get to preview-taste all the party food, of course). As with other staff, we do require that you contact us prior to the festival so we know to put you on the pre-event list and can plan accordingly.
