Another Maddening Press Conference

August 27, 2006

Hello Sweeties,

I just must say something. At Bush’s press conference last week (and I’m still trying to get over it!) he again tried to boost up his disastrous Iraq adventure as something absolutely worthwhile. It’s the war that he wanted and still wants, even though it has no redeeming social benefits for anyone. And, of course, it continues to go very badly. This war

is his dream though, his mania, his disaster that he claims isn’t any such thing. He says, “It would be a disaster to leave Iraq.” Oh boy. The guy is just in love with this war of his, and so are his friends. They are all just clinging onto and boosting up this war as if it’s their ship that has come in at last.

They see no harm at all in an imperialist war for profit. To them it’s patriotic to supply arms and send other men’s sons to use them. They think it gives the under classes a chance at glory for once. Medals are awarded and pride is given to the humble GI, according to elitist Neo Con standards. The under classes are praised and honored, and so they should be grateful to be serving their country in whatever way the president might want. But your grandma thinks G. W. Bush and his friends are hopeless elite bunglers who can’t imagine that destroying other countries is wrong. Your grandma wants to know why the president thinks it’s okay to kill people overseas in order to make them believe in and want Democracy. ?????
