Bastille Day

Hello Sweeties,

It's Bastille Day today! In 1789, 219 years ago today, the Bastille prison in Paris was destroyed and the French Revolution began. On that day, July 14th in 1789, the bold and arrogant government of France had a definite comeuppance. The French people realized that their government had gone too far to the right where everything beneficial was exclusively for the rich people.

Nothing good was forthcoming for the poor people. And since this inequity was so extremely obvious, and since there were many, many more poor people than rich people, and since the poor people were desperate for the basics, such as food and shelter, the poor people decided to take over their government. The poor revolutionaries killed their rich oppressors and ever since that day, the 14th of July, 1789, there has been a certain "understanding" between the people of France and their government. The government is afraid of the people, instead of the people being afraid of their government. And that's a good thing and a healthy thing, and the way it should be. Happy Bastille Day everybody!
