Condoleezza Rice

Dr. Rice, the National Security Advisor, spoke for more than two hours before the commission investigating 9/11. She is a woman of many, many words which she used interminably, or so it seemed to this reporter.

She tried to explain why more was not done to prevent the tragedies of 9/11. If only she had had further information prior to 9/11, she said. She said she could never have imagined that hijackers would use airplanes to smash into buildings the way they did.

However, before 9/11 there had been wide hints from the intelligence community that this exact maniacal thing might happen, but, to be fair, Rice was given no specifics, such as dates and flight numbers.
