I now see Richard Milhous Nixon, old Tricky Dick, as almost a sweetie-pie! I never thought I would see him in just this light, but compared to George W. Bush, my goodness, Nixon is beginning to look pretty progressive, maybe even princely, considerate and humane.

Nixon didn't start a preemptive war. He had his Vietnam, but he didn't start it; just fanned the flames for a few years. Nixon liked to keep a veil of secrecy around his White House, but not the way Bush does.

Bush doesn't let his left hand know what his right hand is doing. He gets this from his avid Bible study no doubt. But he really carries it too far. Talk about a spooky and scary guy, Bush is so secret that he doesn't even let himself in on the fact that he's the president.
