But, deficits don't matter, right? A billion here and a billion there and pretty soon, deficits don't matter because no one can imagine them or calculate their consequences. How did this happen under a Republican regime? Republicans are supposed to be conservative and responsible, serious people.

Cheney/Energy/Enron/Hallibuton/secret meetings/cozy contracts/conflict of interest contacts/pocketed judges/billing the American taxpapers to the tune of a half-trillion-dollars; and this amount of money doesn't include the cost of another moon visitation or shooting off to other reaches of unknown space... In the current strangely grotesque, funny and barbarous adventure movie "The Pirates of the Caribbean and The Curse of the Black Pearl" we can see how consuming greed and profiteering by conquest and domination work. But the pirates and their curse have nothing on the right wing of the Republican party and its heavy hitters.
