Last year, in his State of the Union speech, the president said Iraq was seeking "significant quantities of uranium from Africa." As he said this, he looked meaningfully into the TV cameras so that we could fully appreciate the fact that we should be scared silly. We were all about to be hit, by Iraq, with weapons of mass destruction! Remember that? The CIA, not believing the scary "uranium" story, had urged the president not to tell it. Now we realize that the CIA was right. The president should not have said that.

Dick Cheney now stands alone in affirming that the "WMDs in 45 minutes" info was correct. He vouches for the entire lead-up to war with Iraq. Besides he has recently invested in some very fine Italian leather furniture for his new offices over there in the region.
