And punches aren’t being pulled. Bush and Kerry are saying naughty things about one another. But of course the Democrats don’t believe one word Bush says and the Republicans believe only heaven knows what.

Bush, after instigating his preemptive illegal war, is now saying the electorate cannot afford to oust him as a “war president.” We need our present standing official “war president” to protect us because he’s the cowboy with a loaded gun already out of its holster and blazing away. He wants to be our war hero. Bush, a rough and ready rodeo guy through and through, rides the range with buckaroos who still believe in the “weapons of mass destruction” that brought us recklessly to war and who think that the UN is just sissy stuff. They’d rather shoot first and ask questions later.

Kerry, a true war hero already, would consider dealing seriously with the UN, and before ever using a gun, he may even actually listen to the UN. That might be very refreshing and it might make us feel like real Americans again.
