Bush continues to refuse to clarify comments he made denying any warning that a terrorist attack was imminent before September 11, 2001. As a matter of fact, on May 17, 2002, Bush said, “Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to kill on that fateful morning, I would have done everything in my power to protect the American people.” However, on August 6, 2001 White House officials acknowledged that US intelligence agents delivered a one-and-a-half page document to President Bush that warned that “bin Laden’s terrorist network might try to hijack Americans planes.” What do we make of this? Bush was on his summer vacation in Texas during the month of August, 2001 when he received the warning of bin Laden’s hopes to hijack American planes. One wonders. Did the one-and-a-half pages of that vital intelligence fall into the swimming pool?
