We have enjoyed Bob Edward's beautiful baritone speaking voice on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition" for the last twenty-five years. We are very sad to see him leave us.
He was fired by the powers that be. Some people feel he must have been a threat to the Bush administration. Bush wouldn't dare send him on down to Guantanamo Bay! Would he?
Bush has ominously appointed two outspoken and heavy-hitting conservatives to the citizens' board that oversees the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which contributes a lot to both NPR and PBS - National Public Radio and Public Broadcasting System. The GOP (The Grand Old Party of Republicans) denies firing Edwards. Of course, but it also denies that anyone has actually died in Iraq.
I hear that editors of newspapers across the country get calls from the White House if their papers are too outspoken in criticism of the Bush administration. Pretty soon we Americans, the greatest people on earth, etc., will be forced to get our information from the foreign press. Hello France, hello Germany...
