Just My Dog
He's just my dog. He is my other eyes that can see above the
clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds.
He has told me more than a thousand times over that I am his reason
for being -- by the way he rests against my leg, by the way he thumps his tail at my
smallest smile, by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it
makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me).
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without
him, I am only another person. With him, I am all powerful.
He has taught me the meaning of devotion is loyalty itself. With
him, I know the secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where
before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my
side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me ... whenever ... wherever ... in
case I need him, and I expect I will, as I always have.
Who is he? -- He's just --
MY DOG!

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LIFE
I LEARNED FROM MY DOG!
|
-
If you stare at someone long enough,
eventually you will get
what you want.
-
Be direct with people; let them know exactly how
you feel by piddling on their shoes.
-
When it comes to getting
what you want, if at first you don't succeed, beg.
-
Be aware of when to hold your tongue, and when to
use it.
-
Leave room in your schedule for a good nap.
-
Always give people a friendly greeting; a cold
nose in the hand is effective.
-
Digging in the garden can really be fun.
-
Don't go out with out ID.
-
Just because that French Poodle looks great, it
doesn't mean she's the one to share your Dog House with
you!
-
There's not many things in the world more
enjoyable than suppertime.
-
It's never fun going to the vet, whether you feel
good or not.
-
When you do something wrong, always take
responsibility (as soon as you are dragged out from under
the bed).
-
If it's not wet and sloppy, it's not a real
kiss.
-
When you go out into the world, remember: always
take time to smell the roses...and the
trees, the grass, the rocks, the street, the fire hydrants...
