CARTOONIST BIOGRAPHY
Better known to his friends as Fish! Michaels artistic journey
began in his native hometown of St. Louis Missouri when he was
born January 9, 1963 wearing ice skates and a hockey jersey! Raised
by loving, musical parents. Michael began skating and playing
drums before he could barely walk! Later in 1976, the Fischer
family relocated to Nashville Tennessee when at the young age
of 13, Michael began to teach himself to draw and play the guitar.
As he grew older, he became less interested in sitting behind
a desk and more attracted about performing in a rock band. At
the age of 17, Michael dropped out of McGavock high-school and
set his sights on playing music. Being that opportunity was slim
for major rock n roll success in Nashville. In 1987, Michael
said good-bye to his family and friends and moved to Los Angeles
California.
After a few years of Spinal Tap like adventures, seedy management
contracts and pay to play gigs in Hollywood. Michael began to
devote more of his magic towards drawing cartoons.
While he worked in his tiny one room apartment drawing comics
on a small table supported by two milk crates. In 1989, a very
historical hockey event occured! Wayne Gretzky the greatest
hockey player in the world was traded to the Los Angeles Kings!
Ice hockey suddenly took over Southern California and Michaels
art career. Michael was so inspired by the arrival of the Great
One to California... He created TOONS ON ICE!!!
After a lifetime of hard work, earthquakes, riots, fires and floods!
Michaels work has appeared in numerous NHL publications and
on major network television and feature film.
Michael has designed special projects for the Colorado Avalanche,
the Los Angeles Kings and I.M.G Hockey which represents such
players as Wayne Gretzky and Brett Hull. TOONS ON ICE has
been featured on the Kings Prime Ticket Network and in Hockey
Player Magazine. His other art credits include ABC, NBC,
HBO, Nightmare on Elm St, Tales from the Crypt and Disney
Sports Enterprises. Michael has designed custom hockey art for
legendary Kings voice announcer Bob Miller, Michael Eisner/
C.E.O Disney and
Craig Leipold/ C.E.O Nashville Predators.
In 1998, Michael returned home to Nashville and his musical roots.
He continues to write music and play clubs paying tribute to his
guitar heros Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn. For 2000, Michael
is preparing his GROOVY TOONS world invasion for the new millennium.
