Ernie
has been with Hearthstone about 18 years. He
started in Pennsylvania as the sales manager for the Pennsylvania
distributorship. In 1989 Ernie and
his wife, Ruth, moved to Roanoke, Virginia to manage the Virginia
distributorship and later he became the distributor.
In April 2003, Ernie and Ruth moved back to central Pennsylvania to be
closer to family. Ernie will
continue to sell in Virginia as well as in Pennsylvania and any other areas
where leads are generated.
After all the years of being associated with Hearthstone, Ernie has first-hand experience in all areas of the log home business. Shortly after he began his career in Pennsylvania, he trained and worked with an erection crew that is still providing that service to Hearthstone customers. He has also worked alongside the dry-in crew on several projects. Ruth does her part by keeping the books straight, mailing information to potential clients, etc.
In 1993 Ernie and Ruth built a combination log/timber frame home in Roanoke and did most of the work involved in that project. That home was featured in the 1996 Log Home Living Annual Buyer’s Guide. Now that they have moved, they find themselves in the building business once again, although this time on a smaller scale. Their plans include adding a log addition to an existing home they purchased and putting log veneer siding on the original structure. The Hearthstone office will be located in their home so potential clients can see firsthand what a Hearthstone home looks like. Time will also be set aside to enjoy hobbies, camping, spending time with family and friends or just sitting on the porch swing enjoying the peace and quiet and watching the wildlife that abounds at their new home.
