William McCaughan and Mary Picken had the following children:

2 i. Elizabeth² McCaughan was born in Scotland. Elizabeth died December 29, 1896 in Colchester, CT. She married Henry McDonald I in New York, NY, January 3, 1856.

4 iii. Samuel John McCaughan. Samuel died 1863 in Vicksburg, MS. Supposedly died in the Battle of Vicksburg as a member of the Union Army. Probably died for Union Army in Battle of Vicksburg.
