Giving It My "Best Shot" - NOT!

Okay, here we go, first day of treatment - the end of the world as I know it, and the beginning of the world as it's going to be, at least for the next 48 weeks! The house is cleaner than it's been in months, fridge and cabinets are stocked with food (and gingerale, gatorade, and soda crackers)....just had a nice rain storm that brought the temperature down to delightfully cool, wearing my comfy pjs, and heading into chat shortly, for some company, advice and moral support while I poke myself for the first time. Started the Rebetol this morning and evening, no side effects there, but didn't really expect any this early in the game. To say I'm a little nervous about the shot is kind of like saying Napolean was a little short, LOL....I'm nervous some about doing the shot itself, but I think I'm more nervous about what it's going to do to me - although at the same time, I'm anxious to get the show on the road and find out what it's going to do to me........

July 31....

Well, gave myself the shot with no problem, but discovered afterward that due to a combination of nervousness and too much Boo in my face, that I mixed up the water and med bottles, and ended up only doing about one-quarter of a dose, highly diluted.....which undoubtedly explains why I had no side effects to speak of, LOL! Anyway, I called Schering's Be In Charge program (24/7 phone support with a nurse, among other benefits) and she told me not to worry, I wasn't the only idiot out there who'd ever done such a thing, and just to consider this a "trial run", keep taking the Rebetol, and count next week's shot as the first....so I don't feel TOO stupid - and at least I know now I can do the shooting itself with only a momentary qualm and a last fervent prayer before I actually stick myself.

And now, we'll see what happens NEXT week......
