Hard to believe but true. There are absolutely no requirements for someone to do business as a home inspector in the state of Georgia!! Unlike many states that require certification in the building code used by that state, Georgia has absolutely no requirements. That means anybody can print business cards and become an instant “home inspector”.
Do you want some unqualified person inspecting your most important investment? Do you want an “instant inspector” to miss a backdrafting water heater that is spilling carbon monoxide into your house? Or miss a poorly attached deck, a crack in your foundation, or an electrical panel problem that may start a fire?
The best way to avoid these people is by making certain your inspector is C.A.B.O certified. Becoming certified in the CABO 1&2 Family Dwelling Code is the most challenging certification around and requires much dedication and knowledge.
Having your home inspected by a non-certified “inspector” is like getting a physical from a doctor that didn’t go to medical school!!!
