Highland Park Neighborhood

Parking:

If you have a driveway or spot in a parking lot, please use it! Many people do not have this convenience and it can be hard to find parking on some Fort Hill streets.

If you are parking on the street, please take care not to block driveways!

Garbage:

According to the city’s Public Works web site, "Refuse containers shall not be placed out before 5:00 PM of the evening before the day of the scheduled collection, and shall be removed from the sidewalk or alley as soon as possible and not later than 12 hours after collection." Trash pick-up is on Mondays and Thursdays in Highland Park.

Dogs:

Massachusetts General Laws and the City of Boston Municipal Code contain several laws pertaining to dogs:

  • MGL Chapter 140, sections 137 & 138, require the annual licensing of all dogs over six months of age with the city or town where the dog is being kept. In Boston the Animal Control Unit, Room 811 City Hall, 617-635-5348, issues these licenses.
  • In addition, Municipal Code Section 16-1.9 requires the restraining of dogs and their leashing while in public areas; and Section 16-1.10A requires that owners clean up dog feces in both public and private property.
