Patriot's Day
Highland Park Neighborhood

Every year on Patriot's Day the Roxbury Collaborative presents a celebration of the historic ride of William Dawes who, along with Paul Revere, rode out to Concord to alert the towns of the coming of the British Regulars. Every year the National Lancers reenact this ride. The Roxbury Highlands Historical Society and the family of Warren I. Brown award the Warren I. Brown Memorial Scholarship to a high school senior who is pursuing higher education and is involved in contributing in a positive way to their community. Following this annual ceremony, some person of note gives an address on a topic of historical interest. (In 2004 it was a re-enactor playing Prince Hall, the founder of the first Black Masonic Lodge.)  And finally there is a trolley tour to the historic sites in Roxbury.
