Special Events

The NSAI Los Angeles Regional Workshop is proud to bring you a series of three special events during the months of May and June.  Each of these events feature industry pros with knowledge of the craft and Nashville business that can help you reach your goals.

Saturday, May 18 will feature an all-day seminar with hit songwriter Steve Seskin (“Life’s a Dance”, “Don’t Laugh at Me”). Learn how to find the most powerful way to tell each story.  Rewriting: how to know when you’re done. The seminar will include critiques of 20 songs with priority in the order of paid registration. Steve Seskin is a very popular songwriting instructor, so be sure to register early.

The event will be held from 10:00am-5:00pm at Kulak's Woodshed, 5230 1/2 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood. The cost is $35 for NSAI members and $45 for non-members if paid in advance; $50 at the door. To register, send a check made out to “Craig Lackey” to 1045 3rd Street #205, Santa Monica, CA 90403.  Include your phone number and email address.

On Saturday, June 2, from 3:00-6:00pm, there will be a special seminar with Nashville pro writer Marc Alan Barnette. Marc is a great writer and performer, and he will share some of his secrets on how to write better songs and present them better in a live setting. The focus of the presentation will be tailored to the needs of the participants. Marc will critique songs with priority based on the order of paid registration.

The Marc Alan Barnette Seminar will be held at Kulak’s Woodshed, 5230 1/2 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood. Admission is $10 for NSAI members, $20 for non-members. To register in advance, send a check payable to “Craig Lackey” to 1045 3rd Street #205, Santa Monica, CA 90403.

They are co-authors of the new book “Your First Cut”.  In this seminar, you can find out how close you are to getting your first major label cut and learn concrete steps you can take to get you closer to this goal.
