• Sunday, Sept. 22, 3:00pm-6:00pm - Mini-Song Camp at Kulak’s. "Isn't It Ironic", Part 1. Another in our series of hands on workshops developed by Jim Melko,  "Isn't It Ironic"? focuses on the elements of irony the artistic achievement known in songwriting as "twisting" the story or the chorus or the hook. Part One addresses the goal of irony, the "moment of truth", which is defined as a single moment capturing a truth that all of us, regardless of our backgroundand experience, can recognize as part of what it means to be human.  Three types of irony are described and illustrated through song examples: verbal, dramatic, and situational irony.A distinction is also made between satire and sarcasm, which are both types of irony. Bring paper, pencil, and a willlingness to learn and try something new.

Giving and receiving critiques is one of the most valuable ways to improve our craft and to test our songs for market-readiness. Bring a song on CD or to play live, plus 15 copies of your lyric sheet.  Lyrics can also be critiqued.

• Sunday, Oct. 13, 3:00-6:00pm - Group Song Evaluations at Kulak’s Woodshed. Bring a song and 15 copies of your lyric sheet.
• Saturday, October 19, 10:00-5:00 at Kulak's - Seminar with Tim Buppert. Back by popular demand, hit songwriter Tim Buppert returns from Nashville to share his songwriting and music business knowledge and experience, and to critique songs. In addition to his writing credits, Tim is one of the most sought-after demo singers in Nashville. • Sunday, November 17, 3:00-6:00 Mini-Song Camp at Kulak's.
• Sunday, November 24, 3:00-6:00pm at Kulak's - Pitch-to-Publisher with Jon Rosner of Bicycle Music.  Jon will be listening and responding to tunes in ALL GENRES.  Bicycle Music is quite active in placing songs in film and TV projects, and has helped secure development deals for several pop bands.
• Sunday, Dec. 1 - Thanksgiving Weekend - No Workshop.

Randy Sharp has had numerous hits such as Alabama's "Cheap Seats" and Clay Walker's "Then What", and he has the title cut of the Dixie Chicks' latest album, "Home". Don't miss this opportunity to hear Randy's insights and to ask questions about songwriting and the music business.
