Sept. 11-- NSAI Songwriter Lineup at Hallenbecks, 5510 N. Cahunega,
NoHo,7:30. FREE to all, hosted by CRAIG LACKEY with JENNY YATES
(SIX Garth Brooks cuts, plus Dan Seals, Kathy Mattea, many more), Niki
Smart, Dean Dobbins, Warren Sellars, Kathryn Grimm, Eileen Carey, Earl

Sept. 15, -- 7:00-9:45pm, Plummer Park, "Art Room #1", 7377 Santa
Monica Bl, West Hollywood, GROUP SONG CRITIQUES. Because
of our many other events, we haven't been able to squeeze in these
valuable meetings lately, but here we go! Bring a
song-in-progress, one you're still willing to receive input on, live or
on tape, (bring your own guitar or keys), and bring 15 lyric copies.
FREE to members, visitors get two free look-see meetings, then it's $10.

Sept. 29-- Even MORE SONG CRITIQUES. Bring a
song-in-progress, play live or on CD/tape and 15 lyric copies.

Wanna get more experience co-writing? We'll pair you up with someone
else and the two of you will find a corner and hammer out a
quickie. You MUST be ON-TIME or you likely will NOT get to stay
and play. Bring some song scraps, ideas, spontaneity! BRING
YOUR GUITAR or KEYS TOO! FREE to members, $10 visitors.

Guest! (Shelly wrote or co-wrote "Almost Doesn't Count" for
Brandy, "Bitch" for Meredith Brooks, "What A Girl Wants" for Christina
Aguilera, plus songs for Michelle Branch, Keith Urban, LeAnn Rimes,

FREE to NSAI members, others $10. Shelly will play her songs, talk
about her ongoing career, how it all got started, answer all your
questions!
Workshop Location
Unless otherwise noted, workshops are held from 7-9:30 p.m. at Plummer
Park Community Center, "Art Room #1", 7377 Santa Monica Blvd, West
Hollywood. Admission is free for NSAI members, $10 for

- MOKE CAMERON, former L.A.
member now relocated to Nashville within the past year, has made
a MAJOR SUCCESS. He's just signed a STAFF deal with FOREST HILLS MUSIC,

- ANNA MONTGOMERY reports:
"Road life is great. I love every minute of it. Shelby Lynne is the
best- we've started recording together now too. She has a new studio in

- REX POINDEXTER was
recently diagnosed with a stomach lymphoma and is undergoing outpatient
chemo for several months. "Thanks for all the cards and well
wishes!" Rex is hosting a Special NSAI showcase on Thurs. Nov. 13
dedicated to "Writers In Remission" and is seeking writers who have
first-hand or second-hand cancer or other life-risk experience. Contact
Rex if you think you're 'eligible' and interested at

you've written and can play!

DENISE VASQUEZ has
recently been diagnosed with cancer in her uterus, and will be unable
to play at our Nov. 13 "Writers In Remission" show as she is scheduled

DEAN DOBBINS: "Just an
update about my Dean Dobbins Band releases in Europe. I put 2
songs on a European compilation CD in late 2002 and early 2003.
"He Can Dance" reached #18. "Writers and Pickers" reached #8. I put
"One More For The Road" from "THE DEAN DOBBINS BAND, Volume Two" CD on
a compilation CD last month. As of the 9/4 survey, it's up to
#19."

KIMBERLEY: "HE HUGE!!! John Austin DeLozier (a.k.a. Johnny
Austin) and Momma are doing great. Kim
is recovering fast, and Austin is discovering this new world
he has entered for the first time. When he fusses I just get out
the guitar and play a
little diddy from daddy, and he calms down (most of the

Tim Buppert will be in town October 3-6, he's a PRO Nash vocalist
and we are coordinating vocal demos while he's here. The cost is
$100 per song and some minimal studio costs which will be
