COUNTRY NOTES
The NSAI bulletin for the Los
Angeles area Workshop
November-December 2005

forget the Annual Holiday Party and Guitar Pull, the afternoon of Sunday,
Dec. 11! Details below
under “Workshop Schedule”.
Thursday,
Nov. 10, 7:30-10:30pm - Songwriter Lineup at Hallenbeck's
General Store, 5510 N. Cahuenga Blvd, North
Hollywood. Hosted by Denise Bradley.
As producer and host of the Songwriters Guild of America's Songwriter Studio
showcase, Denise has access to some of the finest songwriting talent in
town. This show will feature Kirstin Candy plus
Xandy Barry, Michael Lord, Kelly Fitzgerald, Kirstin Candy, Richey Lam, Adrina
Thorpe, and Duane Neillson.
Sunday, Nov. 13, 7:00-10:00pm at Hill-Harbison House - Guest
Speaker Warren Sellers. Warren Sellers has been a longtime
fixture in the LA songwriter scene, and he recently signed as a staff writer
with Windswept Music's Nashville
office. Warren
has been a popular guest at NSAI's Orange County workshop, and we
are pleased to welcome him here to visit us in Los Angeles/Pasadena. Warren is known for
giving excellent song critiques. In addition, he will share his insights
into distinguishing a good song idea from an average one and determining the
best direction to go with an idea once you''ve
settled on one. This is sure to be an inspiring and informative workshop.
Sunday,
Dec. 4, 7:00-10:00pm at Hill-Harbison House - Group
Song Evaluations. Song evaluation are one of
the most valuable ways to improve our current and future work. Receiving
critiques helps us to understand how our songs are coming across to impartial
listeners. Giving feedback to others helps us develop the skill to better
refine our own songs. These workshops are also a great way to network and
meet potential co-writers. Bring a song on CD, cassette, or to play live plus
10 copies of your typed lyric sheet. Lyrics only can also be critiqued.
Thursday, Dec. 8, 7:30-10:30pm - Songwriter Lineup at Hallenbeck's
General Store, 5510
