HUGH PRESTWOOD IN L.A.

Legendary songwriter Hugh Prestwood will lead us in a don’t-miss all-day seminar on Saturday, July 19. A Texas native who resides in New York, Hugh is a 1994 Emmy winner for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Music and Lyrics for “The Song Remembers When”, featured in Trisha Yearwood’s Disney Channel television special of the same name.
“The Song Remembers When” also earned Hugh the 1993 NSAI Song of the Year award. This followed his 1991 BMI Song of the Year award for Randy Travis’ “Hard Rock Bottom of your Heart”. Hugh’s other hits include Shenadoah’s “Ghost in this House”, Crystal Gayle’s “The Sound of Goodbye”, Michael Johnson’s “The Moon is Still Over Her Shoulder” and “That’s That”, Anne Murray’s “Feed This Fire”, Highway 101’s “Bing Bang Boom”, and Collin Raye’s “On the Verge”.
After a morning talk from 10:00-noon, Hugh will critique songs from 2:00-4:00. This seminar will be limited to fifty people, and critiques will be limited to the first twenty to sign up with NAS at (213)463-7178. Even if your song is not being evaluated, you don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity to learn from the critique session.
Admission to this event is a) Full Seminar With Critique of Your Song - $40.00 in advance, $45.00 at the door; b) Full Seminar Without Critique of Your Song - $35.00 in advance, $40.00 at the door. Admission will include a Writers in the Round that evening at 7:00PM featuring Hugh, Randy Sharp (“You Will”), Steve Dorff (“I Cross My Heart”), and Wendy Waldman (“Save the Best for Last”).
The seminar and showcase will be held at Musician’s Institute, 1655 McCadden Place in Hollywood. Additional tickets for Writers in the Round can be purchased for $10 at the door.
Unless otherwise noted, workshops are held from 5-8 p.m. at Musician's Institute, 1655 McCadden Place, just off Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood. Seth Jackson attended the NSAI In Service Training in Nashville this past April, and has assumed the role of Co-Coordinator for the Los Angeles Regional NSAI Workshop. Seth will succeed Craig Lackey, who will be focusing more time on writing.

We have an outstanding community of songwriters here in LA.
