Mechanical Royalty rates for 1998-2006
As of Jan. 1, 1998, the statutory rate for mechanical royalties
in the US will be to 7.1 cents or 1.35 cents/minute. This
is the royalty to be paid for each record manufactured and sold after Jan.
1, 1998, unless contractually agreed to otherwise by the copyright owner
and the record company.
The rate will change as follows:

January 1, 2000 - 7.55 cents or 1.45 cents/minute

January 1, 2002 - 8.0 cents or 1.55 cents/minute

January 1, 2004 - 8.5 cents or 1.65 cents/minute

January 1, 2006 - 9.1 cents or 1.75 cents/minute
