JEFF ADLER (Director) has directed numerous productions for Horizon, from Bonjour, la, Bonjour (our very first production in 1983) through last season's Racing Demon. Other Horizon favorites include Voir Dire, Marvin's Room, The Film Society, Aunt Dan and Lemon, Heathen Valley, The Secret Rapture, Full Moon and All in the Timing. He has also directed at other theatres and colleges, most recently LaGrange College. Jeff has been in charge of every set built for Horizon productions, and he also leads the Horizon Senior Ensemble, the acting and playwriting ensemble for senior citizens here at Horizon.
MICHAEL BREWER (Set Designer) is pleased to be designing the first set of the 1997-98 season. His past designs here include Many Things Have Happened ..., Let's Play Two, The Wild Guys, This Passion Thing, Racing Demon and Abducting Hillary. He has also worked with Theatre in the Square, Actor's Express and, most recently, designed the set for The Real Thing at Theatrical Outfit. Michael has also been busy remodeling and painting the Horizon Theatre lobby. He hopes that you enjoy both the show and the new atmosphere.
(Foley Artist/Musician/Composer) Klimchak's recent theater work
includes a live score for Georgia Shakespeare Festival's production
of Othello, a new score for The War In Heaven by
Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin, a live score for No Exit
at Le Neon Theater in Washington DC (nominated for a Helen Hayes
Award for best sound design) and a live score for Malinche
performed with movement specialist Henriette Brouwers at Bovenzaal
Stadsschouwberg in Amsterdam. Other recent work includes a sound
score for Three Bagatelles for the Righteous, a dance theater
work which is currently touring with Jane Comfort & Co.
KIM GHEEN (Stage Manager) is in her fifth season as a Horizon staff member. Previous technical credits include electrical and board operation for several Off-Broadway productions and international work as a dresser for Shirley MacLaine's concert tour Out There Tonight. She attended NYU and the London Strassburg Institute as an acting major, which led to roles in over thirty productions. Kim is currently completing her degree at West Georgia College and owns her own business teaching creative movement.
CYD KNIGHT (Lighting Designer) is pleased to be designing her first show for Horizon. She has been a designer "up north" for many, many years. Her design projects in Atlanta include Actors' Express Jeffrey, Twelfth Night, Sailing To Byzantium, Italian American Reconciliation, Love! Valour! Compassion! and most recently Wonderful Town. She has also worked with Theatre in the Square, Rialto Center for the Performing Arts, 7 Stages Theatre, Several Dancers Core, Agnes Scott and Personal Touch Dog Training (Just Ask Misha). A certified integrative structural bodyworker, Cyd is looking to take on new clients.
DUNG NGUYEN (Sound Designer) returns for his ninth show with Horizon. Previous engineering credits include: Das Barbecu - Dallas Theater Center, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill - Baltimore's Center Stage and Portland Stage Co., Tales of the Lost Formicans - Axis heatre of Maryland. Mr. Nguyen has also worked for American Players Theatre, Old Globe Theatre, San Diego Rep., Shakespeare Santa Cruz, A.R.T. Station, Theatre in the Square and the Alliance Children's Theatre. He thanks his partner, Kathy McNamara.
SARAH RASKIN (Dramaturg) graduated from George Mason University. Her Atlanta dramaturgy credits include Racing Demon, The Screened-In Porch, Abducting Hillary, and First Star Blues at Horizon, The Diviners at Whole World, Henry V at the Shakespeare Tavern, Six from the Rainbow at barking dog, Uncle Vanya at Soul-stice Rep, and The Mystery of Irma Vep at Dad's Garage. Sarah is coordinating the New Horizons series of wacky bare-bones off- and late-night shows at Horizon Theatre, and hopes you'll check them out for something ever further off the beaten path.
JOANNA M. SCHMINK (Costume Designer) holds a B.F.A. from the University of Georgia and an M.F.A. from Penn State University. In Atlanta she is resident costume designer for Horizon and 7 Stages theatres, as well as resident costume coordinator for the Atlanta Opera. Current projects include Whispering to Horses at 7 Stages, Twelfth Night at LaGrange College and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and Jack & Jill for Theatre in the Square.
