About the Artistic Staff

ROB MEDLEY (Set Designer)

This will be Rob's third season at Horizon. Rob designed All In the Timing, Ellen Foster and Voir Dire. Other designs include Alabama Rain and Accelerando at Actor's Express and Married Life at Theater Emory. Rob also works occasionally as a free-lance scene painter.

PAUL ACKERMAN (Lighting Designer)

Paul is happy to be returning to Horizon for his third season. Last season his designs were seen in The Good Times Are Killing Me, Voir Dire, Ellen Foster and A Cheever Evening. Paul recently joined the staff of the fabulous Fox Theatre as Production Manager. Prior to joining the Fox, Paul was Director of the Georgia Tech Center for the Arts for four years since its opening in 1992. Paul's design credits include nine seasons as the Resident Lighting Designer of the Atlanta Ballet and stints with the Academy Theatre, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and the Alliance Theatre. Paul is a resident of Decatur with his wife Darce Beck and their two children Hanna and Sam.

JOANNA M. SCHMINK (Costume Designer)

Joanna holds a BFA from the University of Georgia and an MFA from Penn State University. In New York Joanna has constructed costumes for New York City Shakespeare Festival and Parsons Mears Ltd. In Atlanta she is resident costume designer for Horizon and 7 Stages, as well as resident costume coordinator for the Atlanta Opera. Joanna has had the privilege of working with a number of outstanding artists including Athol Fugard and Joseph Chaikin. Recent projects include Cultural Olympiad shows The Good Times Are Killing Me at Horizon, Blue Monk at 7 Stages and In Stitches.

DUNG NGUYEN (Sound Designer)

Dung has worked for the Alliance Children's Theatre, ART Station and Theatre in the Square. He was also on the staff at Dallas Theater Center, Baltimore's Center Stage, Portland Stage Company, Wisconsin's American Players Theatre, and Shakespeare Santa Cruz. He'd like to thank Kathy for her continuing support and love.

LISA ADAMS (Production Stage Manager)

Lisa is pleased to be joining the Horizon Theatre Company for the first time. She recently moved back to Atlanta and is happy to be home. Over the last few years Lisa has had the opportunity to work with San Jose Stage Co. on New Scripts such as Lost Highway, Heathen Valley, and Angry Housewives. She has also stage managed popular shows such as Man of La Mancha and 42nd Street. Lisa would like to extend her thanks to the HTC staff, the cast and the crew for a really wonderful "welcome home" theatrical experience.

R. DARBY (Property Manager)

Having just completed his 7th season as props master for the Atlanta Opera Company along with assisting his lovely partner Melanie with her design of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at the 14th Street Playhouse, Darby is pleased to be back at Horizon for the beginning of a third season.

KIM GHEEN (Master Electrician)

is in her fourth season as a Horizon staff member. Previous technical credits include electrical and board operation for several Off-Broadway productions and international work as a dresser for Shirley MacLaine's concert tour Out There Tonight. She attended NYU and the London Strassburg Institute as an acting major, which led to roles in over thirty productions. Kim is currently completing her degree at West Georgia College and owns her own business teaching creative movement.

LEIGH SELLINGER (Scenic Artist)

Leigh is pleased to assist in another Horizon production. After freelancing in theatre and films for two years in Virginia, she relocated to Atlanta and is currently on staff at the Alliance Theatre where has been a scenic artist for two seasons.
