News for Kids

"News for Kids" is part of the Atlanta Journal and Constitution's effort to enhance the education of today's youth. The purpose of this program is to bring current and relevant information into the classroom to help young people better understand the world they live in. With this valuable tool, your child will be developing skills and knowledge that will help him or her move forward in the 21st century.

I am so thrilled that we have a local business sponsor: JOHN'S CREEK DENTAL. We will be corresponding with Dr. Bowns of John's Creek Dental throughout the year to let him know how much we appreciate his sponsorship. Also to let him know what a valuable learning tool the newspaper is! I have used the newspaper on Mondays in my class for four years. All subject areas can be taught using it! After a busy weekend, I've found students looking forward to Mondays because they know that's "News for Kids" newspaper day! Look for your child to come home with his/her newspaper. Ask questions and share it together! Enjoy!!

Here's what some of the students have to say about

News for Kids and the AJC:

"Thanks, Dr. Bowns, we couldn't read the newspaper without you sponsoring it for us." David

"I like the sports News for Kids pages best." Mandy

"I know more than I ever did about the newspaper because I never read it before we started using it in our class." Emily

"I learned about glance boxes and the information in them." Elisabeth

"I learned stuff I never knew before." Nicholas

"I like the pages with activities to do." Jacob

"I've learned what's happening in foreign countries." Amanda

"I've discovered that the biggest print means the most important story." Mingie

"Thanks, Dr. Bowns!"

"MORE NEWS..."

This page was entered in the AJC News for Kids First Annual Thank Your Sponsor Contest. It was selected as one of the top five finalists! For this honor, we received a newspaper rack for our classroom and each student received a NFK insulated mug and several NFK pencils.
Isn't this WONDERFUL!!!
