6. William David Hunter was born in 1775 in North Carolina. He bought 160 acres, part of original patent No. 525 on 9 Oct 1802 in Robertson County, Tennessee. He appeared on the census in 1820 in Davidson County, Tennessee. (56) He bought from Jesse Rawls of Fairfield County, SC, 100 acres on Spring Creek, a branch of Sycamore Creek on 2 Mar 1824 in Robertson County, Tennessee.(57) He appeared on the census in 1830 in Davidson County, Tennessee.(58) He appeared on the census on 26 Nov 1850 in District #22, Davidson County, Tennessee.(59) He signed a will on 22 Aug 1857 in Davidson County, Tennessee.(60) He appeared on the census on 25 Jun 1860 in District #22, Davidson County, Tennessee.(61) He died in 1861 in Davidson County, Tennessee. He had an estate probated in May 1861 in Davidson County, Tennessee.(62) He was buried in Marshall Cemetery, White's Creek, Davidson County, Tennessee.

David has been said to be a half-brother of Dempsey Hunter.

He was married to Sarah Phillips on 19 Feb 1803 in Davidson County, Tennessee. Sarah Phillips was born on 8 Feb 1758 in North Carolina. She died on 3 Aug 1855 in Davidson County, Tennessee. She was buried in Marshall Cemetery, White's Creek, Davidson County, Tennessee.

SARAH HUNTER born N.C., Feb. 8, 1758; md Joel Horn, had 3 children, Etheldred P., Matthew, Charlotte L.; moved to Tenn. in spring of 1795 with her brother, Benjamin Phillips and settled near Nashville, a widow; she remd to David Hunter, March 3, 1803; she died August 3, 1855.
