Thomasville, District No. 6, Cheatham County, Tennessee.⁽²⁰⁰⁾ He appeared on the census on 18 Jun 1880 in District #7, Robertson County, Tennessee. ⁽²⁰¹⁾ He appeared on the census on 12 Jun 1900 in District #5, Cheatham County, Tennessee.⁽²⁰²⁾ He appeared on the census on 27 Apr 1910 in District #16, Cheatham County, Tennessee. ⁽²⁰³⁾ He died on 25 Aug 1912 in Cheatham County, Tennessee. He was buried in Lockwall Cemetery, Cheatham County, Tennessee.

Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle, 26 Aug. 1912.""Hunter, Thomas W. died Sunday evening at his home near Cheap Hill, of troubles peculiar of old age, having been confined at home for two months. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.W. Farris Monday afternoon followed by interment at Williams Buring Ground. He is survived by his wife, five sons; Demps, Allen, Robert, Sam and George Hunter and one daughter. He was a member of the
Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was 79 years old. He served in the Confederate Army and was confined in prison at Chicago eight months. He had lived where he died for 40 years. He was one of seven brothers who were reared in the section. These brothers were Allen Hunter who died at the age of 81, Henry Hunter aged 80, William Hunter aged 83, D.A. Hunter aged 75 and T.W. Hunter aged 79."

He was married to Louise Murphy (daughter of Elias George Murphy and Louisa Williams) on 27 Oct 1857 in Cheatham County, Tennessee. Louise Murphy was born in 1840 in Tennessee. She died before 1884. Thomas Washington "Yankee Tom" Hunter and Louise Murphy had the following children:
