FORT WORTH - Charles E. Carruthers Sr., 69, a retired stone mason, died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Dr. Bill Longsworth of First United Methodist Church and the Rev. Mike Harkrider of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Temple will officiate. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers: Ken Holtsclaw, Woody Simmons, J.R. Newton, Ken Thompson, Jack Esser, Bob Loar, Jerry Harkrider and Jack Fanning. Honorary pallbearers: all active, life, social and legion members of Moslah Directors.

Memorials: Emery Lilge Community Hospice House or Crippled and Burn Center of Galveston.
Charles E. Carruthers Sr. was born March 28, 1928, in Fort Worth. He was a brick/stone mason for over 50 years with Local Union No. 6. He was a 50-year Gold Card member and was very dedicated to his profession. He belonged to Polytechnic Lodge No. 925, was a member of Moslah Temple and a life member of the Moslah Temple Directors. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Pearl and Charlie Carruthers, and a brother, Ray Bradley.

Survivors: Wife of 47 years, Lewellyn Carruthers of Fort Worth; sons, Charles Carruthers Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Fort Worth, Ron Carruthers and his wife, Beverly, of Covington, and Glenn Carruthers and his wife, Cindy, of Springtown; brother, Lewis C. Carruthers; grandchildren, Charles E. Carruthers III, Clinton, Chanda, Jason, Chad, Robby, Jodie and Tina; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Tucker; and numerous other family and friends.
