Mary Jane Thompson Taylor

MARION -- Mary Jane Thompson Taylor, age 75, entered heaven's gates at 4:21 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Marion Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.

She was an active member of her church, Freedom Freewill Baptist Church, south of Marion.

She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

She was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Chaffee, Mo. to Ernest and Kristine (Kirn) Hunter. Her mother died when she was four years old and she was raised by her aunt, Myrtle Walker, in Marion. She preceded her in death.

She was first married to Raymond Thompson until his death in 1965. She later married Kenneth Taylor in 1966, and he preceded her in death in 1982.

Mary Jane is survived by her three sons, Danny Ray Thompson of Knoxville, Tenn., Bill Thompson and wife, Joannie, of Flora and Larry Dean Thompson and fiance, Dawn Chamness of Royalton; her daughter, Dolores Stanley and husband, Tex, of West Frankfort; 16 beloved grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Moore of Marion and Joan Giffillan of St. Louis; two brothers, Charles Hunter of Collinsville and Ernest Hunter of Marion; one brother-in-law, Sam Stilley of Marion; several nieces, nephews and good friends.

In addition to her husbands, Raymond Thompson and Kenneth Taylor, she was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt Myrtle Walker and one daughter, Jeanette Thompson.

The funeral service for Mary Jane Taylor will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. David Mishler and the Rev. Randy Fosse officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery east of Marion.

The visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the funeral home.

In memory of Mary Jane, memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Freewill Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Raymond Thompson died in 1965. Mary Jane Hunter and Raymond Thompson had the following children:
