When Sue Ollie died, her two children were sent to the Methodist home in Waco, Texas. From there Sarah was adopted by some people in California and never heard from again. Era, who was crippled, lived with various cousins, and stayed in touch with the family.

She was married to Charles Oskar/Oliver Bale (son of Stephen Turner Bell and Sarah Wright Crosslin) on 11 Jul 1909 in Merkel, Taylor County, Texas.⁽¹¹⁰⁴⁾ Charles Oskar/Oliver Bale was born on 20 Apr 1878 in Kentucky.⁽¹¹⁰⁵⁾ He appeared on the census on 7 Jun 1900 in Harper City, Harper County, Kansas. ⁽¹¹⁰⁶⁾ He appeared on the census on 25 Apr 1910 in Precinct #5, Taylor County, Texas.⁽¹¹⁰⁷⁾ He appeared on the census on 7 Jan 1920 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. ⁽¹¹⁰⁸⁾ He appeared on the census on 2 Apr 1930 in Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California.⁽¹¹⁰⁹⁾ He died on 12 Jun 1950 in Los Angeles County, California. ⁽¹¹¹⁰⁾ He was buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles County, California.
