This was for a Kath's 11th birthday. She's such a young lady now, I thought she might appreciate a more "grown-up" theme! This cake is a Debbie Brown design from her book, "50 easy party cakes". This also marks my very first attempt at working with fondant icing. It was really nice to work with, but we've all decided that nothing beats buttercream for good taste! The fondant is a great modeling medium but tastes very chewy and bland. Everything on this cake is handmade and edible. The compact, mascara, eyeshadow, and lettering are all handcast chocolate. The eyeshadow applicators, make-up brush, and eye liner pencil were fondant. I also used luster dust for the first time on this cake, and am now craving all the colours!
